Meet Sushi & SakI
Say hello to Sushi and Saki, our adorable and playful pair of Asian Small-Clawed Otters!
Born in 2019, these two have become shining stars in their species’ conservation efforts — having raised five litters of pups who have gone on to become animal ambassadors and vital contributors to the Species Survival Plan (SSP).
Sushi & Saki are not just cute — they’re conservation champions.
Asian Small-Clawed Otters are the smallest of all 13 otter species, native to the freshwater wetlands and mangroves of Southeast Asia. Unfortunately, they are currently classified as Vulnerable due to habitat loss, pollution, and the illegal pet trade.
At Wilderness Trails Zoo, we help support the future of the species through conservation breeding programs, educational outreach, and providing safe, enriching environments where these incredible animals can thrive.
